How To Properly Display A Flag
A federal law, Public Law 94-344, known as the Flag Protection Act of 1989, outlines the laws regarding proper handling and displaying of the United States flag. In addition, state and local laws may impose penalties for violations.
During the drafting of the Constitution, many of the delegates were Federalists who had been fighting in the Revolutionary War for a strong central government. They produced a charter that shifted power away from the states and into the hands of a national government, but they also included an amendment, which is now called The Second Amendment: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” It has since been interpreted by the Supreme Court as referring to individual self defense.
