Skin check services include a visual head-to-toe examination by a dermatologist to look for new or changing moles and other pigmented areas of the skin. We use the American Academy of Dermatology’s ABCDE method to detect any abnormalities. We also look for asymmetry, change in size or texture and bleeding, redness or itching.
The skin cancer screening is quick and painless, taking just 10 minutes in our office. We ask you to remove your clothes and put on a medical exam gown so the doctor can see every inch of your body, including less-visible areas such as the soles of your feet, underarms and buttocks. We will also inspect for actinic keratosis, a common skin condition that can turn into skin cancer if left untreated. URL https://isoclinic.com.au/
Comprehensive Skin Check Services for Early Detection
If we find a suspicious spot, we will take a small sample for testing in a lab. This procedure involves numbing the area with local anesthetic and scraping or shaving off a bit of the mole for analysis. We will share the results with you as soon as they are available.
Because melanoma is the most deadly form of skin cancer, early detection is key. We recommend you get a skin check regularly, even if you do regular self-exams. It’s especially important for people in professions that expose them to the sun, such as police officers or anyone who regularly works outdoors.
