Kratom Extract

Kratom extract is a concentrated form of kratom leaves that has gained increased popularity due to its superior efficacy, potency, and convenience. This alkaloid-based extract has been used by some users to help with depression, pain, opioid withdrawal symptoms, and even anxiety. Its effectiveness as a pain reliever and mood enhancer has also garnered the attention of many people who are searching for alternatives to traditional pharmaceutical analgesics and stimulants.

The kratom plant, Mitragyna speciosa, has been used for centuries in Southeast Asia as a stimulant, sedative and opioid replacement. It is believed to have powerful analgesic properties that work on a number of pain receptors in the body and produces similar effects as opioids but without the side-effects. The main active compounds in kratom are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, with the former being the most abundant alkaloid in fresh leaves. In commercial kratom products, the total alkaloid content ranges from 0.5-1.5 % with mitragynine being the predominant component.

CBD and Kratom: A Comprehensive Guide to Using Both for Wellness

Several extraction methods are commonly used for kratom extract production. Among them, maceration, infusion, percolation and decoction are the most popular because of their ease and low cost. However, these techniques do not allow for the complete extraction of the most important phytochemicals from kratom.

A more recent method for kratom extraction involves microwave-assisted extraction (MAE). This process requires advanced processing equipment and is not suitable for home use. This technique uses a high-pressure microwave to dissolve the alkaloids in water, ethanol or ethyl acetate. The resulting kratom extract contains a higher concentration of alkaloids and has been shown to produce greater antinociceptive activity in mice than the aqueous, MeOH, and EtOAc kratom leaf extracts.
